'Yesterday' Film Review

When I went to see 'Yesterday', I was expecting something like 'Rocketman', or 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. A biopic film. Don't ask me why - I don't know. Yes, I had watched the trailer. Yes, I had read the reviews. And yet, I couldn't help but be a little disappointed when the film began, and I found it to not be a biopic.
Whilst it is an excellent story line - and it really is - and it is funny, with some of my favourite songs of all time included... it wasn't an amazing film.
I didn't think the acting was very good. I thought it was more like a piece of drama filmed for a documentary. It was obvious that the actors were acting, and I couldn't suspend belief in the film.
However, Ed Sheeran in the film was hilarious. I found myself cackling in the cinema (much to the annoyance of others in there). And the film itself wasn't terrible - in fact, it was quite enjoyable.
A feel good, family film, 'Yesterday' was both everything that I wanted, and exactly the opposite. It was enjoyable, funny and something that I would like to see again... though I think that perhaps a biopic of The Beatles are what the world needs right now. I think that a lot of people will go to see 'Yesterday' with the belief that it is a biopic... and it really isn't. But still - it was good.
