The Hara at Satan's Hollow, Manchester

The Hara at Satan's Hollow, a nightclub in Manchester, were amazing. Satan's Hollow really fitted their vibe - which whilst it does not conform to any single genre - I would say is faintly emo. The makeup; guyliner, mostly - and their outfits - almost entirely black - remind me of early 2000s My Chemical Romance.
Their music is loud, energetic and at times almost frightening, but their show is amazing. They come not just to play music, but to give their audience memories that they will never forget. The audience was comprised mostly of late teenaged-early twenties girls, all of them screaming for the three musicians. The frontman, Josh Taylor, climbed different parts of the stage almost constantly, and was absolutely great at getting the audience to do what he wanted. He had them eating out the palm of his hand, it was really cool to see.

The kind of music that The Hara make is the kind that a fifteen-year-old me would have just lapped up. It was almost warming to see the audience feeling that they fit in somewhere, which I am sure that a lot of them don't feel too often. A few years ago I would have loved the band and their music and the feeling of belonging which they give off - but I don't feel like I need that kind of feeling anymore, and I'm pleased about that because it means that I am happier... but there is a part of me, and I am neither pleased nor ashamed to say that it is not a small part, that wishes I had been able to sing along to more of their songs last night. The energy was incredible, and The Hara are a great band.
