Philip Norman - 'John Lennon: The Life'

03/10/2023

Philip Norman's biography of John Lennon is over eight-hundred pages long. It is intense, and at times painful to get through - I find that Norman goes off on a tangent at several points...

But overall, the book was very informative. I learnt a lot from it, and I did mostly enjoy how much detail there was. Sometimes it was unnecessary, but enjoyable nevertheless.

Norman is a fan of Lennon - and this is made evident in his biography of Paul McCartney when he himself says how much he admires Lennon as compared to McCartney. However, there is very little evidence of bias within the book, and for that reason I preferred this book to the McCartney biography.
