David Hepworth - '1971: Never A Dull Moment'

Whilst there might not have been a dull moment for music in 1971, there most definitely was in this book. It was quite literally painful to get through this, and in the end I skipped probably two or three of the chapters. The chapters are arranged with each one going to a different month and history-making song or album that was released within it. However, within these chapters there was sometimes more than one amazing release that was covered though not given the position of chapter title.

The idea itself; of 1971 being rock's 'golden year' is an interesting enough one, and I do think that it has/had a lot of potential... but there is something about the way Hepworth has written it that makes it drier than the Sahara.

I would not recommend this book to anybody unless they had a long journey stretching ahead of them and their phone was dead.

Yes, it was interesting enough, but the amount of concentration required to get through the book was ridiculous... or maybe that was just me. Online, 1971: Never A Dull Moment had generally good reviews, with a GoodReads average of 3.93 stars (at the time of writing this in March 2022), but I just couldn't see it myself.
