Jonas Brothers
As a kid growing up in the early 2000s, my dream came true when I saw hearthrobs The Jonas Brothers at the O2 Arena, London.
Their set was awesome. An amalgamation of songs from their most recent album, 'Happiness Begins', their days as a teen pop band, songs from the movie 'Camp Rock' and also work from previous albums; they brought the roof down, and spirits were high for both the band and the audience.
It was evident that the band are glad to be back after a breakup of almost six years (October 2013 - March 2019), and the people of the world are glad to have them back. They sold out both dates in London (February 2nd, and February 3rd), and are continuing on their world tour in the coming weeks.
Their raw energy and zeal for their music and for their audience was contagious, and it seemed as though there was not one person in the arena who wasn't singing. The Jonas Brothers are evidence that practice really does make perfect, and after fourteen years (the band formed in 2005), they've near enough got it spot on.
And the opening acts for the band were talented too, though it was tedious to have to sit through three of them and an interval before the headliners. Livvia had a powerful voice and was very clearly gifted. She seemed to receive a lot of praise (judging from how many Instagram stories and tweets I have seen from last night).
Jordan McGraw's performance was enjoyable, and his lyrics memorable. His guitarist especially, was quite funny to watch - obviously inspired by the rock guitarists of the 1970s and 1980s, he seemed perhaps only too eager to make a display of his skills. However, I enjoyed his playing and his energy; I wish there were more players these days who put the kind of effort into their performance that he does, and I wish that there were more artists who let their backing band take the spotlight. Thanks to Jordan McGraw for allowing his over zealous guitar player to take some of the limelight. An amazing performance, and one that I without a doubt enjoyed.
And finally, Picture This, an Irish rock group, were the last openers of the night. Their singer was enigmatic and energetic, engaging the audience and the rest of his band. I liked their set a lot. I liked their songs, also. I am a new fan of this band, thanks to the show they put on last night. Well done, boys.
